Arata Asaoka lives with his depressive father, an alcoholic, and his older brother. He was born out of wedlock and often suffered from his brother's mockery and his father's beatings. This led to his introversion and lack of self-confidence. But one day Arata meets a young girl who can give him a ray of hope. Her name is Koharu Hinomoto.
