Ihara Saikaku Koushoku Ichidai Otoko / The Story of the Love Adventures of a Lonely Man

"The Sensualist" is a rather old anime, released in 1991, based on the stories of the famous Japanese writer Saikaku Ihara. The original story consists of several separate stories united only by one hero - Yonosuke-kun, who was a rich merchant's offspring living high on the hog. Simple everyday life bored him, and in search of new sensations he went to the legendary "Island of Women". This film adapts one of the last chapters, where Yonosuke is already under 60. An old friend visits him with an amazing request - he wants to sleep with the most celebrated courtesan (geisha) on the very first evening after meeting. Yonosuke is surprised and at the same time intrigued by this request, because expensive courtesans (geishas) are very picky and vain...
